What they found was grim, Humaira’s lifeless body lying in the apartment, which was reportedly locked from the inside. Officers on the scene stated that there were no visible signs of foul play.
“The iron gate, wooden door, and balcony were all locked from inside. It doesn’t appear anyone else was involved,” said senior police officer Syed Asad Raza.
Dr. Summaiya Syed, a police surgeon, confirmed that the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition. According to the police, the body likely had been there for over 10 days.
Her remains were sent to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Humaira Asghar Ali lived alone and had reportedly not been in contact with her family or close friends for some time. Authorities are now working to reach her relatives for further information.
